Bluetooth is a specification for the use of low-power radio communications with wireless phones, computers and other wireless network devices over short distances. The name Bluetooth was actually borrowed from Harald Bluetooth, the Danish king more than 1,000 years ago. Bluetooth is designed to make low-bandwidth wireless connections easy to use so that they can be used even by those new to wireless. Bluetooth version 1.1 describes low power technology, a short-range wireless network technology that uses radio waves to send data at rates of up to 720 kilobits per second. The Bluetooth specification allows different classes of radios that allow transmission ranges of up to 100 meters by increasing radio power. Bluetooth technology is not limited to the line of vision transfer, as it uses targeted waves that are able to transmit through many obstructions.
